What is anodising?
Anodising electrochemically thickens the naturally occurring oxide film that is formed spontaneously when the surface of aluminium is exposed to the atmosphere. This film forms a transparent coating which greatly increases corrosion resistance, and protects polished, chemically brightened or etched surfaces. Also because the film is minutely porous it can be dyed.
